Bill has spent the majority of his career in the pharmaceutical industry. His knowledge of its inner workings guides us at McYoung Foods, as we look to make food production safe and allergen-free for all. Bill and his partner Janet are connoisseurs of the arts and enjoy sampling all that Central Indiana has to offer on the weekends.
We’ve all been there…
Managing a food allergy is difficult. The constant label checking, awkward questions at your friend's dinner table, and slim pickings at restaurants make mealtimes a drag. That's why McYoung Foods created AWESOME GRANOLA™. By combining whole grain oats with a delicious nut-free golden pea protein butter, McYoung Foods developed a healthy, allergen-free substitute for traditional granola products. It's true. Our scrumptious, healthy granola is a nut-free and allergen-free choice for breakfast parfaits, side salads at lunch, or ice cream toppings after dinner. Use it in smoothies, as an ingredient in sweet and savory dishes, or as a healthy snack. But that's not all... AWESOME GRANOLA™ is manufactured in a nut-free/tree nut-free facility right here in the United States. It is little things like this that make us different, and for good reason… food-related illnesses and allergies are no longer the outliers, they are the norm.
An Awesome responsibility
McYoung Foods’ AWESOME GRANOLA™ seeks to provide a safe-haven for not only the allergen averse, but for all consumers and businesses. Our granola is free from the top 9 allergens, as defined by the FDA and is produced in a nut free and tree-nut free facility. It is low in sugar, high in pea protein, contains no trans fats, and is low in sodium. Oh, and on top of all that, it’s delicious! No more scouring the snack aisle for something everyone can eat—you can rest easy with allergen-free AWESOME GRANOLA™.
Our Story
Founded in 2014, McYoung Foods aims to give the world the best-tasting products free from the Top 9 Allergens (tree nut, peanut, wheat, soy, egg, milk, fish, sesame, and shellfish). In 2018, we debuted AWESOME GRANOLA™ to help address a need we saw in the snack foods category (both for consumers and foodservice vendors). But the AWESOME GRANOLA™ brand is much more than a healthy, allergen-free snack choice, it represents a shift in quality, delicious health food options.
For years, we have seen both allergy-prone family members and food-intolerant friends unintentionally alienated; so many of the staple foods in American culture contain allergens. As the world becomes more inclusive, it was time for someone to take a look at allergens and food-related illnesses and address both areas head-on. We set up shop in the only food manufacturing facility in the U.S. that is both nut/tree nut-free and began crafting exclusively allergen-free products.
Perhaps it is our native Hoosier Hospitality, but we want to make products that are inviting to all. In our minds, everyone is deserving of delicious, great-tasting gluten-free and allergen-free products. That’s why AWESOME GRANOLA™ is crafted with intentionality—from quality control and taste testing to business practices and marketing strategies, the customer’s best interest is always at heart.
